The Nighthawks participated in their final race of the season before the New England Collegiate Conference Championships on Friday afternoon, running the Suffolk Invitational at Franklin Park. The women's race consisted of a 5k run while the men were required to do an 8k.
The Nighthawks Men's and Women's Cross Country teams participated in their second race of the season, with both teams recording a third-place finish in Saturday morning's Mitchell College Invitational 5k.
A trio of teams started their 2018 Cross Country campaigns on Friday morning, marking the earliest start to the season in Nighthawks history. Newbury, along with Suffolk and Lasell, competed in the Mini-Meet consisting of a 3k for the women and a 5k for the men.
Nighthawks Women's Cross Country has been voted fourth in the preseason polls in the New England Collegiate Conference according to the coaches of the NECC. The Nighthawks finished fourth in the Cross Country Championships last season with the help of Mary Jok and Hamido Hassan, who finished 15th and 16th, respectively, in last season's championships. Jok finished in a time of 23:26.23 while Hassan came in just behind at 23:43.81.

Westfield, Mass- Lesley University took home the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Champion honors for the first time since 2014 after placing five runners in top 10 during the 2017 NECC Women's Cross Country Championships at Stanley Park in Westfield, Massachusetts.

Men’s and women’s cross country started out 2016 strong in their first races of the season at the Wheelock Cross Country Opener. Naomi Ricciotti (Phoenix, Ariz.) ran a 17:03 over the 2.08 mile course, winning first place in the opening race of the year. Fellow teammates Destiny Spears (Annapolis, Md.) and Christina Babcock (Shirley, Mass.) took second and third, respectively.
