BOSTON - The Nighthawks men's indoor track & field team enjoyed a day of personal bests, led by junior Andrew Kalombo (Worcester, Mass.) who broke two indoor program records on the day at the Boston University Valentine's Invitational.
In his first broken record of the day, Kalombo competed and finished the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.33 seconds. Minutes before Kalombo, junior Malik Francis (Kingston, N.Y.) took possession of the 200-meter record with a time of 23.59 seconds. Both times are new personal bests.
Kalombo then struck again for a program record, this time in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.63 seconds. In the same event, sophomore David Jean (Malden, Mass.) came through with a new personal-best in the 400-meters with a time of 52.93 seconds.
Senior Jarrod Smith (Watertown, N.Y.) and freshman Brent Myers (Bismark, N.D.) also set personal-bests in the 200-meters, each finishing the competition with times of 24.61 seconds.
In the women's events, sophomore Taymise Sanders (Malden, Mass.) broke the women's program record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.00 seconds. The time converted into the New England Division III Championship Rankings now positions Sanders ninth-best in the New England Region for all Division III women runners in the 200-meters.
The Nighthawks who have qualified for the New England Division III Championships will begin competition on February 22.
