SOUTH WEYMOUTH, Mass. - Bulldogs freshman Miranda Seacord (Cambridge, Mass.) scored a hat-trick, helping the Dean Bulldogs to a 4-0 victory over the Newbury Nighthawks on Wednesday night at Union Point Sports Complex in the New England Collegiate Conference and season finale for both teams.
The Bulldogs started the scoring in the 10th minute with Seacord's first of the match. She was the beneficiary of a through pass by sophomore Alison Nelson (Candia, N.H.). Seacord found herself in alone, giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
Seacord and the Bulldogs doubled the lead in the 19th minute. Freshman Allison Buckley (Guilford, Vt.) assisted on the play, giving Dean a 2-0 lead.
Seacord completed the hat trick in the 39th minute. Nelson and Seacord connected again on the play for the 3-0 lead.
Nelson got on the board with a free kick goal in the 55th minute, giving Dean a 4-0 advantage.
Seacord's hat trick gives her 11 goals on the season, sixth-most in the NECC.
The Nighthawks had their share of chances on the night. Freshman Twalesha Montague (Hartford, Conn.) had four shots on goal, including two quality chances, but both were met by Bulldogs junior Macy Parisee (East Freetown, Mass.).
Junior Jahna Macnamee (Medford, Mass.) also had a good opportunity off a corner kick. Parisee was challenged again but kept her clean sheet alive.
Parisee improves to 3-8-1 this season, making seven saves in the shutout. Nighthawks senior Noelle Sass (Randolph, Mass.) made nine saves on the night.
The Bulldogs improve to 4-10-1 (2-6-1 NECC) while the Nighthawks fall to 2-14 (1-8 NECC).
The Nighthawks season is complete while the Bulldogs will await the seeding selection in the NECC Postseason.
The playoffs begin on Saturday, Oct. 27. Location and times to be announced at a later date.
