QUINCY, Mass. - Lions senior Libby Nyquist (Barre, Vt.) and sophomore Kyndall Fry (Tampa, Fla.) both scored a pair of goals for Eastern Nazarene, leading to their 6-0 victory over the Newbury Nighthawks on Wednesday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference play.
For Fry, it's her first goals of the 2018 season while it's Nyquist's second two-goal game of the season. Fry added an assist for a five-point afternoon.
The Lions were on the board in the first minute with Fry scoring her first of the game, assisted by senior Kennedy Dowling (Nashua, N.H.). Dowling sent in a cross, met by Fry from the top of the box, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead.
Nyquist tallied the next two for the Lions, the first of which came on a rebound in the 30th minute. Freshman Emily Forstrom (St. Paul, Minn.) originated the chance with a shot, saved by Nighthawks senior Noelle Sass (Randolph, Mass.), but Nyquist scored on the rebound for a 2-0 lead.
The Lions made it 3-0 in the 57th minute on Nyquist's second of the game, a one-time shot off a pass by sophomore Victoria Hern (Salem, N.H.).
Eastern Nazarene added three more, including Fry's second of the game, in the final 16 minutes on the way to the 6-0 win.
Lions freshman Sarah Moschini (Upton, Mass.) takes the win, improving to 6-7-1. Sass made 12 saves on the afternoon but takes the loss in goal.
Eastern Nazarene moves to 6-7-1 (3-3-1 NECC) with the win. Newbury drops to 2-12 (1-6 NECC).
The Nighthawks travel to Lesley on Saturday for their next contest, a 6:00 p.m. kickoff at Arlington High School.
