Nighthawks Shutout in Conference Play vs. Becker

WESTON, Mass. - Hawks senior Lindsey Keith (Sutton, Mass.) netted a hat trick and added an assist, providing plenty of help in the Becker College Hawks 6-0 win over the Newbury Nighthawks on Saturday afternoon at Pride Field in New England Collegiate Conference play.

The hat trick is Keith's fourth game this season with at least three goals and she now sits atop the conference in goals with 15. Keith's 64 career goals are second-most in Hawks program history and are two shy of the record held by Caroline Plunkett.

Keith started the scoring in the third minute with her first of the game. A shot from distance that beat Nighthawks senior Noelle Sass (Randolph, Mass.) gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead.

Becker doubled the advantage in the 10th minute with senior Ciara McKissick (Charlton, Mass.) scoring her first of the season. Keith sent a cross in from the right side that was met by McKissick from 10 yards out. Sass was able to get a piece of the shot, but not enough to keep it out of the goal, giving the Hawks a 2-0 edge.

Keith struck again just before halftime for her second of the match. A cross again came from the right and Keith ran on to the free ball, giving Becker the 3-0 lead.

Becker added three more in the second half, including Keith's hat trick goal in the 61st minute.

Hawks freshman Lyndsey Cobb-Wilkins (Elmira, N.Y.) gets the win, moving to 2-3-1 this season. Sass made 22 saves on the day but is charged with the loss.

The Nighthawks fall to 1-10 (0-3 NECC) while the Hawks move to 6-4-2 (2-1-1 NECC).

Newbury returns to play on Wednesday with a conference match against Lesley. Becker is back in action on Monday, traveling to Mass. Maritime Academy for a match at noon.
