BROOKLINE, MA -- Nighthawks goalkeeper Noelle Sass (Randolph, MA/ Fontbonne Academy) set a new school record with 25 saves and sophomore Keely Molloy (Staten Island, NY/ New Drop) notched her first career goal, but the milestones were not enough as Newbury dropped a non-conference contest with Husson University 9-1 Friday evening at M&M Field on the campus of Hellenic College.

With the loss, the Nighthawks drop to 0-3 on the season while the Eagles improve to 1-1.

Husson's Kathryn McGinness (Center Barnstead, N.H. / Prospect Mountain) opened the scoring in the 3rd minute before Brianna Saulter (Hermon, Maine / Hermon) doubled the visitor's lead just four minutes later.  Both McGinnis and Saulter scored a pair of goals for the Eagles while Saulter also added an assist.

Molloy would cut Husson's lead in half in just 14 seconds after Saulter's opener when she slotted home the rebound from senior Shannon Walsh's (Massapequa, NY/ Massapequa) shot attempt.

The early goal was the only offense Newbury could manage as they finished the match with 12 shots, seven of which were on target. Walsh had a team high seven shots and four shots on frame.

Husson's bombarded Sass in net, tallying 52 total shots on frame, with 34 hitting the target.

Senior Leah Hibbad (Portsmouth, R.I. / Portsmouth) paced the Eagles' offense, scoring a hat trick with goals in the 35th, 54th and 58th minutes. Hibbad took 21 shots in the game to lead all players. The senior striker also added two assists for her eight point night.

Husson's also received goals from Taylor Fortin (Goffstown, N.H. / Bishop Brady) and Morgan Carver (Gardiner, Maine / Gardiner Area).  Carver added an assist on the afternoon along with teammate Hannah Smith (Auburn, Maine / Edward Little).

Goalkeeper Sami Ireland (Howland, Maine / Penobscot Valley) earned the victory in net for Husson stopping three shots in 45 minutes of action.  Jordyn Hopkins (Limestone, Maine / Limestone Community School) played the second half for the Eagles, making three saves as well.

The Nighthawks will return to action Sunday afternoon when they host Johnson State.  Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM. The Husson Eagles will be back on the field on Sunday also when they travel to Colby College for a 1:00 PM match up.
