BENNINGTON, Vt. - An 18th minute goal by Mountaineers sophomore Molly Madore would be all the offense Southern Vermont would need on the afternoon as they defeated the Nighthawks 3-0 in an NECC battle on Saturday afternoon.
In the 18th minute Madore put Southern Vermont on the board, taking advantage on a corner kick. The corner, from the left side of the pitch, found Madore at the edge of the six-yard box with her head-- bouncing it past Noelle Sass (Randolph, Mass.) for her team-leading 10th goal of the season, putting her second in the conference in goals this season.
Danielle Biggers (Bronx, N.Y.) and Taylor Mallett (Berwick, Maine) each added an insurance tally in the second half in the 3-0 Mountaineers win.
Sass finished the afternoon for the Nighthawks with nine saves in the loss, downing her record to 3-4 on the year.
The Nighthawks managed only two shots on goal and nine total shots in the match, giving them a 0-6-0 record when recording less than ten shots.
The Nighthawks will begin a four-game homestand, starting this Tuesday in a non-conference match against Green Mountain State at The Winsor School; kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
