LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Nighthawks freshman Caroline Mahoney (Easton, Mass.) was selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-New England Third Team following her impressive rookie campaign for Newbury, as announced by the NFCA last week.
Mahoney is the first Nighthawks freshman since 2016 to be voted to an NFCA All-Region Team following their first season.
The first-year designed player finished the season batting .412 with four home runs, 47 RBIs, and 56 hits, including 11 doubles and three triples. The 56 hits are the most a freshman has ever had in program history while the 47 RBIs are the second-most a freshman has ever posted in the program.
Mahoney adds this postseason recognition to her All-New England Collegiate Conference Third Team selection from earlier this May.
Five other NECC players were elected to the All-Region Teams by the NFCA.
All-Region players are nominated and selected by NFCA member coaches in each of the eight Division III regions. First team All-Region choices are eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America team, which will be announced the evening of May 22 online at NFCA.org and in person at the NCAA Division III Championship banquet in Tyler, Texas.
