    Nighthawks senior Alexis Vieira (Pawtucket, R.I.) and juniors Arianna Gooden (Bakersfield, Calif.) and Averi Johnson (Oregon City, Ore.) all earned a spot on the All-New England Collegiate Conference Second Team, as announced by the NECC Office on Tuesday afternoon and voted by the coaches of the NECC. Newbury freshman Caroline Mahoney (Easton, Mass.) grabbed a spot on the All-NECC Third Team.

    The breakout season continues for Nighthawks junior Averi Johnson (Oregon City, Ore.) as her two-run home run in the top of the seventh provided the game-winning runs as the sixth-seeded Newbury Nighthawks upset the third-seeded Becker Hawks, 8-7, on Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the New England Collegiate Conference Playoffs.
  • Nighthawks Senior Day Sweep Clinches Playoff Birth

    The final playoff spot in the New England Collegiate Conference postseason was on the line on Sunday as the Newbury Nighthawks and Mitchell Mariners played a doubleheader to finish the regular season. The Nighthawks needed a sweep to take the six-seed, while any Mariners win would give them the last spot in the postseason. Additionally, the Nighthawks honored seniors Madison Elliott (Windham, Maine), Alexis Vieira (Pawtucket, R.I.), and Noelle Sass (Randolph, Mass.) for Senior Day.

In game one, a 2-2 tie was broken by the Leopards thanks to a seven-run sixth inning while in game two, the Leopards put up 10 runs in the second inning, en route to the sweep.

Lesley, led by third-year head coach Heather Ross, returns six starters, including the reigning NECC Rookie of the Year and National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region selection, Jordan Day (Seminole, Fla.).

It's her second consecutive nomination to the Preseason All-American Second Team, after being named to the same team in the 2018 preseason.
