Withrow Finishes Third in CCRI Tri-State Invitational

LINCOLN, R.I. - Nighthawks sophomore Geralson Withrow (Mystic, Conn.) had his best finish of the 2018 season, finishing in third place, running his 8k in 30:16.5 in the Community College of Rhode Island Tri-State Invitational on Saturday morning. 

Withrow was the leading runner of New England Collegiate Conference runners. Mitchell's Davis Still finished in fourth place with a time of 30:25.7.

As for the other Nighthawks, sophomore David Jean (Malden, Mass.) finished in 26th position with a time of 33:34.4. Freshmen Anthony Crocco (Trumbull, Conn.) and Joan Guzman (Nantucket, Mass.) both ran the 8k race in 34:54.9.

As a team, the Newbury men finished fourth.

On the women's side, freshman Averie Greeley (Ledyard, Conn.) led all Nighthawks, finishing in 30th place with a 5k time of 24:54.3. Sophomore Hamido Hassan (Lewiston, Maine) was two spots behind, finishing 32nd with her time of 25:02.1.

As a team, the Nighthawk women finished in fifth place.

Both teams finished ahead of the only other NECC team participating in the event, Mitchell College.

Two weeks off for the Nighthawks before they return on Oct. 12 at the Suffolk Invitational.
