Nighthawks Fall in Straight Sets at Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. - Nichols College freshmen Ray Wang and Lance Law combined for 21 kills in Nichols College's 3-0 win over Newbury College Tuesday night in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball action at the Nichols Athletic Center.

Classmate Luis Castro handed out 28 assists and junior Oscar Chavez picked up a team-high seven digs as the Bison (14-9, 8-4 NECC) won for the fifth time in their last six outings. Nichols won game one 25-8, game two 25-18, and game three 25-10.

Both Wang and Law tallied four kills in the first set as the Bison posted a .381 hitting pct. Castro registered 10 assists on 11 NC kills in the second set before a pair of aces by junior Kevin Keohane and three kills form Wang in the third closed out the contest.

Sophomore Rory Dobbins paced the Nighthawks (7-17, 6-7 NECC) with five kills.

The Nighthawks wrap up their regular season on Saturday with a trip to No. 11 Endicott College. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
