In the second, the Nighthawks needed a big comeback in the 26-24 set win. Dean used a 9-0 run in the middle of the set to take a 19-13 lead and looked poised to tie the match at one set apiece. The Bulldogs held that lead to 24-21, but Newbury fought off three set points while claiming the last five points in the 26-24 win. Dobbins had three kills in the final five points.
In the final set, another closely contested set was broken open by the Nighthawks with a 12-2 scoring run. Newbury led 20-12 after the scoring outburst. Back-to-back aces by Weston finished the set and completed the three-set sweep. The Nighthawks hit .207 in the final set, winning the third 25-17.
The win moves the Nighthawks to 7-15 (6-6 NECC) while the loss drops the Bulldogs to 3-16 (2-7 NECC).
