ATTLEBORO, Mass. – After finishing regular season conference play undefeated, with a record of 12-0, the nationally ranked Endicott Gulls have secured the top seed in the NECC Men's Volleyball Tournament. Endicott is on the hunt for their sixth straight NECC title, led by sixth-year head coach George Chapell, who reached the 100-win milestone earlier this season. The Gulls lead the conference with 14.07 kills per set in league play, led by sophomore Bryn Lipton's 3.44 per set, which is good for fourth in the conference. Lipton is also second in the conference in service aces per set with 0.56.
The NECC Men's Volleyball Semifinals will begin on Thursday, April 12th at 7:00 p.m. with the top-seeded Gulls hosting the fourth-seeded Newbury College. Newbury finished league plays with a record of 4-8. The Nighthawks top the conference in digs per set at 11.56, behind sophomore Oscar Chavez's 2.46 per set. Nighthawks freshman Trevor Thorne (Oxford, Conn.) leads the Nighthawks with 2.15 kills per set.
Elms College locked up the No. 2 seed, finishing with a record of 10-2, with their only losses coming at the hands of No. 1 Endicott. The Blazers, led by head coach Sheila Gisbrecht, will lean on newcomers Jeremy Torres and Jovanny Torres. Jeremy is third in the conference with 3.46 kills per set, while Jovanny is second in hitting percentage at .378. Elms will face the No. 3 seed, Eastern Nazarene College, on April 12 at 7:00 p.m. The Lions finished with a record of 7-5, and are led by senior Kenny Sorensen, whose 4.31 kills per set and 2.80 digs per set are both tops in the league.
