BEVERLY, Mass. - Gulls sophomore Donovan Dey (Fairport, N.Y.) finished with a match-best eight kills, leading Endicott to a 3-0 (25-12, 25-8, 25-13) victory over the Newbury Nighthawks on Saturday afternoon in a New England Collegiate Conference matchup at MacDonald Gymnasium.
Gulls sophomore Bryn Lipton (Rockford, Ill.) contributed six kills while senior Troy Riorden (Fairport, N.Y.) added five kills on seven attempts (.714) alongside a match-high five service aces. Junior Jeremy Doski (Sandy Hook, Conn.) and sophomore Tim Fieseler (Bridgewater, N.J.) chipped in with four kills each.
In the opening set, the Gulls hit .565 from the floor, the best of the match, on the way to the 25-12 opening set win.
In the second, the Gulls seized control with an opening lead of 11-2. The Nighthawks got no closer than seven as the Gulls hit .500 in the second set win.
In the final set, the Nighthawks and Gulls matched points to a 7-7 tie. Endicott took over with an 11-3 scoring run and closed the match winning the final four points of the third.
The win moves the Gulls to 17-1 (8-0 NECC) while the Nighthawks fall to 3-14 (2-5 NECC).
The Nighthawks return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Dean College for an NECC match scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
