Nighthawks Welcome Blazers for Mid-Season Showdown

Snow Delays Match 48 Hours

A match originally scheduled for Tuesday night was forced to move 48 hours to Thursday night as the Elms College Blazers travel across the state to Brookline to face the Newbury Nighthawks at Pappas Gymnasium. Both teams have been out of competition for 12 days due to Spring Break for both schools. In non-trimatch situations, the Nighthawks come in at 2-2, the Blazers are 6-4 in such situations. Elms has won seven of their last 10 matches overall. 

Thorne, Sepe Among Top-15 in Kills

Nighthawks junior Joshua Thorne (Oxford, Conn.) sits in seventh place in the New England Collegiate Conference in kills per set, recording 2.77 k/s in 12 games this season. Thorne also ranks fourth in digs per set with 2.05. Meanwhile, freshman Matt Sepe (Cranston, R.I.) has been staying hot as of late, averaging 1.77 kills per set over the season, 15th best, and in his last five games Sepe has averaged 2.5 kills per set. 

Blazers Brazilian Duo: Reis Levy and Bondarovsky

The Blazers have two of the top-five leaders in kills per set in the NECC this season. The top player in the conference in terms of kills per set is junior Gabriel Reis Levy (Rio de Janeiro, BRA), averaging 3.65 kills per set in 16 matches for Elms College. His classmate and teammate Daniel Bondarovsky (Rio de Janeiro, BRA) ranks fifth in kills per set at 3.05 in 18 matches this season.
