Nighthawks, Lions Finish Home-and-Home

Tuesday night is the home opener for the Nighthawks as they welcome Emerson College to Pappas Gymnasium; the second straight game the Nighthawks have faced the Lions. The Nighthawks are looking for their first win of the season, sitting at 0-2. The Lions started the season 3-0 before dropping the second half of a tri-match at home to MIT. The Lions walked away with a 3-1 win in the first meeting between these teams a week ago.

Thorne Early Leader in Kills for Nighthawks

Nighthawks junior Joshua Thorne (Oxford, Conn.) leads the team in kills after two matches in 2017. Throne has 23 total kills in nine sets, averaging 2.56 kills per set. Thorne also leads the team in total points created, totaling 27 points on the season. His three service aces are a team-high, while his 15 digs are second most.

Kittivatcharapong, Piorkowski Duel Threat for Lions

Lions sophomores Win Kittivatcharapong (Bangkok, THA) and Mark Piorkowski (Montclair, N.J.) are a formidable duo for Emerson College early in the season. Kittivatcharapong leads the team in kills (52) and kills per set (4.00). Kittivatcharapong is also second in blocks with 11 and has accounted for 66.5 points in 13 sets this season. Piorkowski is second in kills for the Lions with 37 and kills per set with 2.85. Piorkowski leads the team with 14 aces this season.
