Nighthawks 4x400 Relay Places 16th at Division III New England Regional

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Nighthawks senior Jarrod Smith (Watertown, N.Y.), juniors Andrew Kalombo (Worcester, Mass.) and Malik Francis (Kingston, N.Y.), and sophomore David Jean (Worcester, Mass.) became the first student-athletes in men's program history to compete in the Division III New England Regionals on Saturday, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The four competed in the 4x400 meter relay this afternoon at the Johnson Athletic Center.

The team finished in 16th place with a time of 3:40.96. The team was just a second shy of setting a program-record in the event. 

Middlebury College took first place in the event with a time of 3:21.94. The Panthers enjoyed a wide margin of victory beating the nearest competitor, Southern Maine, by three seconds. WPI rounded out the podium, finishing in third.
