DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Corsair sophomore Joe Morehead's (Fairhaven, Mass.) early marker paired with goalie Danny Andrade's (New Bedford, Mass.) first clean sheet of the year structured UMass Dartmouth's victory over Newbury College, 2-0, at Cressy Field on Friday night. Prior to the non-league clash, the Corsair athletic community honored its five senior members of the squad as part of Senior Night.

  • Preceded by a cross-field lob pass from senior Tony Centeio (Whitman, Mass.), Morehead beat his defender one-on-one at the left of the six with a quick dribble move. He put the cherry on top by tucking his shot into the top, far right corner of the frame for an early 1-0 Corsair advantage.

  • With approximately seven minutes remaining in the half, Morehead again presented a threat from the left side – this time, he sent in a hard cross and received a little bit of help from the opposition. A Nighthawk defender inadvertently redirected the ball into the goal in his sliding attempt to clear the ball, doubling the hosts' lead.

Inside the Numbers

  • The Blue and Gold put up 15+ shots for the fifth occasion this campaign.

  • Corsair keeper Danny Andrade (New Bedford, Mass.) clinched the third shutout of his career, needing to make just three saves on Newbury's eight shots.

  • Morehead seized the team-lead with his third marker of the year, breaking the tie formerly held with senior teammates Jake Moreira (Burlington, Mass.) and Joao Correia (Peabody, Mass.).

  • The Corsairs outshot the opposition by a 15-8 clip.

  • UMass Dartmouth snapped its three-game skid while also defending Cressy for the first time this season.

The Nighthawks finish their regular season at 9-4-4 and will await the announcement of the Postseason Seedings once play in the New England Collegiate Conference is complete on Sunday afternoon.
