Exceus's Six-Point Performance Leads to First NECC Rookie of the Week

MARSHFIELD, Mass. - Nighthawks freshman Warren Exceus (Boston, Mass.) posted two goals and two assists for six points in the Nighthawks only game of the week, giving Exceus his first New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week honor, for the week ending on Sept. 30.

The Nighthawks had a light week, playing only one match over the last week; a Sept. 26 game vs. Fitchburg State. Despite the schedule, Exceus made the most of his time on the field, scoring a pair of goals and adding a pair of assists in the Nighthawks 4-1 win.

Exceus and the Nighthawks stamped a spot in the NCAA Division III record books in the match, scoring a pair of goals 12 seconds apart. The 12-second span between tallies is the 11th shortest time between goals in Division III history; Exceus assisted on the first goal at 34:13 and scored his first of the match at 34:25.

The freshman forward leads the Nighthawks with four goals, five assists, and 13 points.

Contributions like this have led to a five-match winning streak, the longest in Nighthawks program history. In the last five matches, the Nighthawks have outscored opponents 15-2 with Exceus scoring or assisting on eight of the Nighthawks 15 goals.

Two matches lie ahead for the 6-2-1 Nighthawks this week, starting Monday with a 7:00 p.m. match at the Coast Guard Academy, followed by a home NECC battle with Mitchell on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at Regis College Field.
