John Del Valle Joins Men's Soccer Staff as Associate Head Coach, Recruiting Coordinator

BROOKLINE, Mass. - Nighthawks Men's Soccer Head Coach Bill Maddock has tabbed John Del Valle as the new Associate Head Coach for the Newbury College Men's Soccer program.

Del Valle enters his first season as Associate Men's Soccer Coach at Newbury College following a three-year stint as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at Fisher College.

Del Valle previously served as an assistant coach for Coach Maddock from 2012-2016 while Maddock was the Head Men's Soccer Coach at Fisher College (MA).  Upon Maddock's departure to Newbury College, Del Valle was elevated to Head Coach, a position he served in until the spring of 2018.

"At this point in my career, I wouldn't want to be coaching with anyone else on the planet than Coach Maddock," said Del Valle. "When Coach and I parted ways in 2016, we knew we would coach together again in the future and the soccer gods brought us back quicker than we thought.  The opportunity Newbury College, the athletic department and the men's soccer program will give me to develop both professionally and personally, is second to none."

While at Fisher, Del Valle led the Falcons a 12-21-1 record over two seasons, including an A.I.I. postseason appearance in 2016.

Del Valle joined the Fisher soccer staff after completing his college career with the Falcons in 2011.  He has made the step up for the 2016 season after being an assistant coach for the last four seasons. Before arriving at Fisher College in the fall of 2011, Del Valle played two seasons at NJCAA Division I Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Mass.

During his one playing season at Fisher College, Del Valle set the all-time career saves record and saves in a season with 226. His 226 saves were 2nd best in a season in NAIA history.

"I am very excited to bring JD back on staff with me," said Maddock. "He has shown a tremendous ability to coach and recruit at the collegiate level. He is going to bring a strong work ethic, a passion of the game and unparalleled committed to the program. There was no hesitation on my part to bring him on staff here at Newbury."

Del Valle will work primarily with the Newbury goalkeepers, assist in recruiting, and game planning for the Nighthawks.

A 2004 graduate of Stoughton High School, Del Valle currently resides in Boston.
