  • Nighthawks Land 15 Student-Athletes on Academic All-Conference Team

    A record 211 student-athletes, including 15 members of Newbury College, have been named to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference team for the 2018 Fall semester, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon. The 211 student-athletes earning recognition bests the previous record of 210 honorees in the spring of 2017.

    The United Soccer Coaches Association announced that Nighthawks junior Andrew Kalombo (Worcester, Mass.) has been named to the USC NCAA Division III Men's Scholar All-East Region Third Team. The designation is the first of any kind for men's soccer by the USC.

    Red Dragons junior Jake Keller (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) scored two goals and senior Migell Ormsby (Kingston, Jamaica) added a goal and collected an assist as the SUNY Cortland Red Dragons defeated the Newbury College Nighthawks 3-1 on Saturday night in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Nighthawks scored a pair of goals in the first 13 minutes of the contest earning the right to host defending NECC Champion, Mitchell College, at 1pm at Hormel Stadium in Medford, Mass.
