BROOKLINE, Mass. – First year A.J. Skinner (Quincy, Mass.) earned New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week honors, announced Monday afternoon. Skinner was the highest NECC golfer to finish at the ECAC Division III New England Championship over the weekend.
The south shore native posted identical scores of 77 on Saturday and Sunday at the par 72, 6588-yard The Ranch Golf Club in western Massachusetts to finish tied for 13th with a two-day total of 154. The next closest conference golfer was Elms' Daniel Olive, who was three strokes off Skinner's pace to finish tied for 21st with a two-day total of 157 (79-78).
Earlier in the week, Skinner posted an 83 at the nine-team, 47-player Westfield State Invitational to finish tied for 21st. Over the course of three rounds this week, he registered a stroke average of 79.
