SOUTHWICK, Mass. – First year golfer A.J. Skinner (Quincy, Mass.) finished tied for 13th turning in a two-day score of 154 at the ECAC Division III New England Championship Tournament, Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Newbury finished the two-day tournament with a two-day team-score of 723 (368-355).
Skinner was on fire, dominating the 6,588-yard, par 72 western Massachusetts golf course. Turning in scorecards of 77 on both days, the south shore native finished first amongst all New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) golfers in the 69-player field.
Fellow first year Colin Davis (Marshfield, Mass.) carded a two-day score of 175 (87-88) while first year Dawud Moragne (Makawao, Hawaii) fired a two-day total of 181. After turning in a scorecard of 94 on Saturday, Moragne dropped seven strokes on Sunday at The Ranch Golf Club. Sophomore Andrew Abou-Rjaily (Burlington, Mass.) and first year Mark Travers (Norwood, Mass.) rounded out the Nighthawks with two-day scores of 218 and 221, respectively.
Middlebury College's Scott Guidotti earned medalist honors firing a three-under, two-day score of 141 (71-70) to lead the Panthers to their second title in three years with a two-day team score of 591.
