BOSTON – First year A.J. Skinner (Quincy, Mass.) turned in a team-low score of 76 to lead the Newbury College men's golf team seventh of 11 teams at the Nighthawks Invitational, Wednesday afternoon. Tufts University won the tournament finishing with a team score of 287.
Jumbos sophomore Aaron Cook (Brookline, Mass.) earned medalist honors winning in a card-off, carding a 70 on the day along with teammate, junior Owen Elliott (New York, N.Y.). Sophomore Michael Lefkowitz (Miami, Fla.) was right behind firing a 71 as all five Tufts players turned in scorecards under 80.
Defending New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) champion Babson College finished second with a team-score of 297. First year Benjamin Crawford (Houston, Texas) led the Beavers with a team low score of 72 while senior Chris Maguire (Waltham, Mass.), sophomore Ian Notkin (Caldwell, N.J.) and first year Riley Whitham (Harvard, Mass.) each carded 75.
The Nighthawks finished second amongst the NECC schools. First year JayCub Lever (Saugus, Mass.) posted an 88 while classmate Dawad Moragne (Makawao, Hawaii) was one off the pace with an 89. Moragne opened the day with three straight pars but fell off the pace bogeying the next three holes.
First year Mark Travers (Norwood, Mass.), who turned in a scorecard of a 95, finished tied for second in par three scoring finishing even on the par threes.
Mitchell College first year Andrew Abbott (Walpole, Mass.) finished tied for third firing a 71 to lead the Mariners. Daniel Webster junior Clint Goodwin (Lebanon, N.H.) led the Eagles carding a 79 to finish tied for 19th in the 56-player field.
