GRANBY, Mass. – The Newbury College golf team turned in a team-score of a 346 at the Elms College Blazer Invitational, Wednesday afternoon at the Westover Golf Club. Junior Andy Levins (Concord, N.H.) led the Nighthawks finishing tied for seventh, carding a 77 on the afternoon.
In his first collegiate match, Levins started the day strong and ended the day strong. On the lengthy Western Massachusetts golf course, he opened the day two-over through the first seven holes, recording a three-over 39 on the front nine. But it was just the start for the New Hampshire native. Levins grew stronger on the back nine, coming in with a string of four consecutive pars for a two-over 38 on the back for a 77.
Senior Stephen Peltier (Dalton, Mass.) atoned for a rough front nine with a four-over, 40, on the backside to turn in a scorecard of an 88. Fellow senior David Hart (Keene, N.H.) posted a score of a 90 while fellow senior Anthony Bonelli (Naragansett, R.I.) was right behind with score of 91. Sophomore Kento Tomiyama (Lexington, Mass.) rounded out the Nighthawks with a 93.
