Men's Basketball Announces 2018-19 Schedule

BROOKLINE, Mass. - The fairly young men's basketball program has a year of experience under their belt as they enter the 2018-19 season. Although the loss of a pair of 1,000-point scorers will be missed, the Nighthawks return a number of young, talented players to pair with their skilled, recruited class of freshman.

Preseason scrimmages rarely make headlines, but the Nighthawks will travel to Division I Dartmouth College of the Ivy League on November 6 for the 7:00 p.m. exhibition.

The regular season starts at the Rivier University Classic on Nov. 9 and 10. The Nighthawks open the season against Rivier Nov. 9, followed by Curry on Nov. 10.

The Nighthawks home opener comes on Nov. 13 against Clark University at 7:00 p.m. Newbury stays home for their next game on Nov. 26 vs. Regis at 7:00 p.m.

Newbury finishes their pre-Winter Break schedule with three on the road, starting with a Dec. 1 game at Salve Regina at 3:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. tip at Emmanuel on Dec. 4 and the conference-opening game on Dec. 8 at New England College at 3:30 p.m.

The Nighthawks return from break on Dec. 29 and 30 at the MCLA Tournament. The Nighthawks will face SUNY Delhi on Dec. 29 and will face either Norwich or MCLA on Dec. 30 in the Championship or Consolation Game.

Newbury plays in conference through all of January starting with back-to-back home games on Jan. 5 and 8. The Nighthawks face Mitchell College on Jan. 5 at 1:00 p.m. and Southern Vermont on Jan. 8 at 5:00 p.m.

The Nighthawks alternate home and road games for the next four, starting on the road at Dean on Jan. 10. The Nighthawks return home on Dec. 12 for a 3:00 p.m. tip with Elms. Newbury hits the road again on Jan. 15 for a game at Eastern Nazarene at 7:00 p.m. and returns home on Jan. 17 for a 7:00 p.m. match against Lesley.

Newbury then plays on the road in back-to-back games on Jan. 19 at Becker at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Jan. 24 game at Mitchell at 6:00 p.m.

The Nighthawks return home on Jan. 26 with a game vs. New England College at 3:00 p.m. and finish January on the road on the 30th at Southern Vermont at 6:00 p.m.

The conference schedule rolls on in February, starting at home against Dean on Feb. 2 at 1:00 p.m., followed by a Feb. 6 game at Elms at 7:00 p.m., and again on Feb. 9 vs. Eastern Nazarene at home at 1:00 p.m.

Newbury's final non-conference match comes on Feb. 11, a home tip against Bridgewater State at 7:00 p.m.

The addition of New England College and Eastern Nazarene College won't change the playoff format as only the top six teams will qualify for the NECC Postseason in 2019.

The Nighthawks travel to Lesley on Feb. 13 and finish the season on Senior Day on Feb. 16 vs. Becker at 1:00 p.m.
