Deng's Strong Week, Program Record Lead to NECC Rookie Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Nighthawks freshman Tim Deng (Portland, Maine) arguably had his best week since joining the Nighthawks and the result is a New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week Honor, as announced by the NECC on Monday.

Deng's week began with a fantastic performance on both sides of the court. On Monday, against Vermont Tech, Deng scored a career-high 19 points and set a program record with eight blocks in a 77-67 win. Deng then scored 17 points on 7-11 shooting, while pulling down 11 boards against conference foe Southern Vermont. On the week, Deng averaged 14.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks while shooting 62.1 percent.

Deng's eight-block game not only set a program record but was also the fifth-most blocks in any game this season in NCAA Division III.

The Nighthawks play three games this week, starting Tuesday against Dean, followed by road games on Thursday at Plymouth State and Saturday at Elms.
