Kerri-Leigh Palmer - Women's Cross Country
Q: Favorite movie?
A: Dumb and Dumber
Q: Favorite Boston restaurant?
A: Fin's Sushi!
Q: Why did you choose to attend Newbury?
A: Coming from a small high school, Newbury was small, friendly,
and at a great location. I also liked the opportunity to make
a difference and an impact on the Newbury community.
Q: What other Newbury activities are you involved
in?
A: I am a Resident Assistant, a member of the Residence Hall
Council, as well as a SAAC representative for women's cross
country.
Q: What is your best cross country memory so
far?
A: There are too many! Maybe beating and setting my personal
record this past year or the old Pittsfield, MA overnights from my
freshman and sophomore year with the original team. Wait! It
was winning a women's meet at Daniel Webster for the first time in
Newbury history!
Q: Do you have any future running
ambitions?
A: I do plan to continue running. Running cross country has
been one of the most mentally (as well as physically) challenging
things I have ever encountered in my life and acquiring the
strength to race on when everything is saying stop, will be
something I plan to apply to all future aspects of my life. I
also intend to run the Boston Marathon at some point in the next
few years.
Q: What are your goals for the 2010 cross country
season?
A: I hope to leave everything I have left in me on the
courses and getting a personal record under 23:30 and have the
cross country team win some more meets!
Q: What is your future career
ambition?
A: My future career ambitions are to own my own line of
professional hair salons and hair care products as well as style
hair for runway and high fashion photography.
Q: What is your favorite sports
quote?
A: Being a runner, my favorite sports quote would have to be
from Bill Bowerman, cofounder of Nike and coach of the incredible
Steve Prefontaine, "The real purpose of running isn't to win a
race, it's to test the limits of the human heart." This is
one of the many quotes that have propelled me across the finish
line.
