Corriveau Earns Regional Accolades
Senior outside hitter Tricia Corriveau (Coventry, R.I.) was one of 12 seniors across the New England region to be honored by the New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA), Tuesday afternoon. Corriveau was selected Honorable Mention by a vote from the NEWVA member head coaches.

Fish Claims Rookie Honors
Freshman middle blocker Sydney Fish (Kalamazoo, Mich.) was selected as the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Year as well as the All-Conference Second Team after dazzling the other eight head coaches in conference action. Fish led all rookies with 76 kills and a .335 attack percentage against NECC opponents.

Nighthawks Fall to Undefeated Mountaineers in Championship
The 2011 season came to close for the Newbury College women’s volleyball team Saturday afternoon in Bennington, Vt. Southern Vermont College earned the automatic entry into the NCAA Division III tournament with the 3-0 shut-out in the Championship game of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) post-season.

Fish, Watson Help Nighthawks Advance to Championship
The Newbury College women’s volleyball returns to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship for the first time in two years after sweeping Bay Path College, 3-0, Friday evening. Freshman middle blocker Lauren Watson registered a .571 attack percentage while classmate Sydney Fish paved the way with 12 kills.

Women's Volleyball Earns NECC Bye
The Newbury College women’s volleyball team earned the second seed and a first round bye in the upcoming New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship after finishing the season with a 6-2 conference record. Southern Vermont will host the semifinal and championship round, earning the number one seed with a perfect, 8-0 record in conference action.

Nighthawks Honor Seniors With Sweep of Blazers
The Newbury College women’s volleyball team sent their seniors home on a high note sweeping the Elms College Blazers, 3-0. Before the game, the Nighthawks honored seniors Tricia Corriveau (Coventry, R.I.), Leanne Cann (Pelham, N.H.) and Felicia Jones (Randolph, Mass.) for their four years of dedication to the women’s volleyball program.

First Years Lead Newbury to Outstanding Week
The Class of 2015 has come in and made an immediate impact for Newbury College athletics. Out of the 13 student-athletes who have garnered New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) weekly honors, eight of them have been freshmen. Women’s volleyball middle blocker Sydney Fish (Kalamazoo, Mich.) received the honors for the third time this season while it was the first for women’s soccer’s Kelsey Landry (Milford, N.H.) and men’s soccer’s Rodriquez Pierre (Somerville, Mass.).

The Newbury College women’s volleyball team dropped two non-conference matches to Framingham State University, 3-1, and Western New England, 3-0, Saturday afternoon. Sophomore outside hitter Jessy Touron (Brockton, Mass.) registered 19 kills on the afternoon for the Nighthawks.

Corriveau Propels Nighthawks to Victory over Eagles
For the first time in four years, the Newbury College women’s volleyball team swept Daniel Webster College, 3-0, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action, Wednesday evening in Brookline, Mass. Never beating the Eagles in her four years at Newbury, senior outside hitter Tricia Corriveau (Coventry, R.I.) led the charge registering an impressive, match-high, .583 hitting percentage.

Newbury Class of 2015 powers Nighthawks to Victory
The Newbury College women’s volleyball team came into Wednesday night’s contest just above Regis College in the NECC standings and remained there behind the powerful play of first years Lauren Watson (Denver, CO) and Sydney Fish (Kalamazoo, Mich). Watson and Fish combined for 23 of the teams 39 kills in the five set match and helped lead the Nighthawks to a 3-2 victory Wednesday night in Brookline, MA.

Three Nighthawks Register Double Figures in Victory over Wildcats
The Newbury College women’s volleyball team kicked off New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action holding off Bay Path College on the road, Tuesday evening. Reigning Rookie of the Week Sydney Fish (Kalamazoo, Mich.) led three Nighthawks in double figure kills, tallying 11 on the evening while registering an impressive .345 hitting percentage.

Offense Breaks Out
The Newbury College women’s volleyball team came into Thursday night winless in their last seven meetings against Worcester State University. Early on it appeared as if the Lancers were going to continue the trend, taking the first set 25-17 but the Nighthawks were resilient and answered the bell, winning the next three sets to pick up their first victory against the Lancers.

The Newbury College women’s volleyball team came out victorious against non-conference Eastern Nazarene College, 3-0, Tuesday evening. Freshmen middle blocker Lauren Watson (Denver, Colo./Denver South) paved the way for the Nighthawks, rejecting five attempted kills for the Lions.

Nighthawks Place Third at Invitational
Newbury junior right side hitter Sara Hanna (Center Moriches, N.Y./East Port-South Manor) earned All-Tournament honors, helping the Nighthawks back from a 0-2 hole, after day one, to finish third at 2-2. The Nighthawks swept Johnson State College and Bard College, 3-0 this afternoon. Lasell College won the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record.

In his first year at the helm of the Newbury College women’s volleyball program, Head Coach Chris Taylor led the Nighthawks to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) semifinals with a 4-3 conference record. With nine players from the 2010 squad returning in 2011, the Nighthawks look to be a strong contender for the conference title.

Newbury College announces release of the Fall 2011 schedules. Cross Country will open the 2011-2012 academic year on Friday September 2nd at the Mayflower Kickoff hosted by New England College while men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and women’s tennis will all be in action on the road on Saturday September 3rd.

Chen Selected as NECC Nomination for NCAA Woman of the Year
Recent 2011 Newbury College graduate, Amy Chen (Chelmsford, Mass.), was recognized as the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC)’s honoree for this year’s NCAA Woman of the Year Award. The award honors outstanding female student-athletes who have shown great leadership and have excelled in all three phases of college life: academics, athletics and the college community.
