Nighthawks Break 3 Records in Women's Indoor Track Season Opener

Boston, Mass - The Newbury College Women's Track & Field team kicked off their 2017-2018 indoor season in record-setting fashion on Saturday at the UMass Boston Indoor Opener.  The 6th annual event took place at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Top Performers

  • Desiree Snead (Easton, Mass.) set the school record in the 60-meter hurdles. The Easton, Mass native finished 11th in the competition in her collegiate debut. Snead also tied the school record in the high school, with a height of 1.40 meters.

  • Taymise Sanders (Malden, Mass.) broke the school record with a time of 27.44 seconds in the 200-meter dash.  Sanders finished tied for 16th in her first collegiate race.

  • Samantha Libby (New Gloucester, Maine), Casey Horner (Butler, N.J.), Mary Jok (Lynn, Mass) and Sanders set a new 4x400 meter mark with a time of 4:33:58s.  The foursome finished 8th in the event.
