Newbury Supports Special Olympics
Five Newbury College student-athletes volunteered and supported Special Olympics athletes from surrounding Eastern Massachusetts cities and towns at the eight annual Bio-Ball Tournament* at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols School in Cambridge, Mass., Saturday afternoon April 28th.

Curry, Graus Highlight 2012 Athletic Banquet
For the second straight year seniors Patrick Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) and Jessica Graus (Rochester, N.Y.) highlighted the 2011-12 Newbury College Athletic Banquet receiving Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2011-12 academic year.

Tomaselli is NCAA Assists Champion
In addition to earning conference and regional accolades in 2011, sophomore forward Briana Tomaselli (Warwick, R.I.) found herself the National Champion in assists per game this past fall. Averaging 0.86 assists per contest, the Rhode Island native recorded a career season-high 12 assists.

Awards Keep Coming
For the second straight year sophomore forward Briana Tomaselli (Warwick, R.I.) was selected to the All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) First Team. Tomaselli helped guide the Nighthawks to their first winning season in program history with an 8-7-1 record and 5-3-1 in conference action to earn the fifth seed in the post-season tournament.

Nighthawks Knocked Out of Post-Season by Hawks
The 2011 season came to an abrupt end for the Newbury College women’s soccer team, falling to Becker College in the first round of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship, 1-0, Tuesday evening. Senior goalkeeper Rachel Wyszynski was solid in net despite the loss making eight saves including a terrific save with 11 minutes remaining in regulation to keep the score tied at zero.

Tomaselli Earns National Recognition
A day after earning New England Collegence Conference (NECC) Player of the Week honors, sophomore forward Briana Tomaselli (Warwick, R.I.) became the first player in women’s soccer history to receive ECAC Player of the Week accolades.

Women’s Soccer Makes Post-Season for Third Year
The Newbury College women’s soccer team has made the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) post-season for the third consecutive year as the fifth seed with a 5-3-1 conference record and an 8-6-1 overall. Looking for their first semifinals appearance, they will travel to Leicester, Mass. for a quarterfinal match-up against fourth seeded Becker College (9-8-2/6-3 NECC) on Tuesday November 1st at 6:00 p.m.

Tomaselli Garners Conference Honors
Sophomore forward Briana Tomaselli (Warwick, R.I.) garnered New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week for the second time this season after helping the Newbury women’s soccer team to a 2-1 week. She registered back-to-back hat-trick’s in decisive victories against non-conference Anna Maria College and NECC foe Bay Path.

Nighthawks Fly Past Wildcats
For the first time in program history, the Newbury College women’s soccer team won four straight games with the 10-2 thumping of New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) foe Bay Path College. Sophomore forward Briana Tomaselli (Warwick, R.I.) and freshman midfielder Kelsey Landry (Milford, N.H.) each registered a hat-trick in the Nighthawks eighth victory – fifth in conference – of the season.

First Years Lead Newbury to Outstanding Week
The Class of 2015 has come in and made an immediate impact for Newbury College athletics. Out of the 13 student-athletes who have garnered New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) weekly honors, eight of them have been freshmen. Women’s volleyball middle blocker Sydney Fish (Kalamazoo, Mich.) received the honors for the third time this season while it was the first for women’s soccer’s Kelsey Landry (Milford, N.H.) and men’s soccer’s Rodriquez Pierre (Somerville, Mass.).

Wyszynski, Graus Register Goals in 10-0 Rout on Senior Day
The Newbury College women’s soccer team recorded their fourth shut-out of the season in a 10-0 victory over non-conference Anna Maria College, Monday afternoon. Before the game, the Nighthawks honored seniors Jessica Graus (Rochester, N.Y.) and Rachel Wyszynski (Wilbraham, Mass.) for their four years of dedication to the program.

The Newbury College women’s soccer team entered today’s contest against Daniel Webster 1-3 against the Eagles in their history but an 8-0 shut-out victory Tuesday afternoon puts them one win away from tying up the all-time series. Sophomore forward Briana Tomaselli (Warwick, R.I.) reached double figures in goals tallying two goals in the victory.

The Newbury College women’s soccer team fell to Mitchell College by a 3-0 margin in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action, Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. Reigning Rookie of the Week Alexis Benton registered six saves while playing 90 minutes in net for the Nighthawks.

Guy Powers the Nighthawks to Victory
The Newbury College women’s soccer team avenged for a 1-0 road shut-out at the hands of Becker College last week by going on an offensive outburst against Regis College Wednesday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action. Junior forward Ashleigh Guy (North Providence, R.I.) paved the way to victory registering two goals in the Nighthawks 5-2 victory over the rival Pride.

Freshman midfielder Alexis Benton (Philadelphia, Penn.) became the fifth Nighthawk to earn New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week honors this season. Benton registered a hat-trick in a 6-1 victory over conference foe Wheelock College last Tuesday October 4th.

Tomaselli Becomes All-Time Points Leader as Nighthawks Fall to Lions, 2-1
Despite dropping a non-conference game to Emerson College, 2-1, Monday evening, sophomore forward Briana Tomaselli became Newbury College's all-time leader in points as a sophomore. Her goal 11 minutes into the contest was her seventh of the season, giving her 17 points on the year and breaking Ashley Greene-Allen's previous career-high of 61 entering the 2011 season.

Two goals were by sophomore Briana Tomaselli (Warwick, R.I.) were not enough to give the Newbury College women’s soccer team their third victory of the season as they opened up New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action on the road against Elms College. The Nighthawks and Blazers battled each other for 110 minutes to a 2-2 stalemate Saturday afternoon at Leary Field.

Nighthawks Hand Hornets First Loss
The Newbury College women’s soccer team handed non-conference Lyndon State College their first loss of the season defeating the Hornets, 2-0, Wednesday afternoon. Senior goalkeeper Rachel Wyszynski (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug Regional) kept the Hornets off the scoreboard tallying 11 saves in the Nighthawks second victory of the season.

The Newbury College women’s soccer team fell to a tough Bridgewater State University team, 4-1, early Saturday evening at Swenson Field. Senior goalkeeper Rachel Wyszynski played solid in net for the Nighthawks, registering four saves while Ashleigh Guy tallied the lone Newbury goal in the 35th minute.

The Newbury College women’s soccer teams were picked by the 10 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) head coaches to finish fourth with a total of 64 points – 32 behind conference favorite Lesley University, who received 96 points including seven first place votes.

Women's Soccer Seeks to Soar on Pitch in Fall
Third year head coach Bobby Desilets has built up the Newbury women’s soccer program since his arrival in 2009. Each of the last two seasons, he has guided them to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) post-season and 2011 appears as if it is not going to be any different.

Newbury Releases Fall Schedules
Newbury College announces release of the Fall 2011 schedules. Cross Country will open the 2011-2012 academic year on Friday September 2nd at the Mayflower Kickoff hosted by New England College while men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball and women’s tennis will all be in action on the road on Saturday September 3rd.
