Fralicks Hat Trick Propels Lynx
The Newbury College women's soccer team lost to New England Collegiate Conference frontrunner Lesley University 4-0 in a night game played in Cambridge, MA. The Lynx stay undefeated in the NECC with an overall record of 7-0, while the Nighthawks fall to 3-4 in the conference.
Lesley forward Jodi Fralick (Woburn, MA/Woburn) provided a stellar performance for the Lynx finishing the game with a hat trick which included two first half goals and one just after the break.
The Lynx jumped out to an early lead as Fralick scored her first goal off a quick feed from Cathryn Folkestad (Ipswich, MA/Ipswich) just after the opening touch. She would score again at 15:36, following a quick pass from teammate Kate Ryder (Glastonbury, CT/Mercy). The Nighthawks would challenge their opponents, keeping the pressure on the Lynx, but it would not be enough as Sarah Levitt (Silver Spring, MD/James Hubert Blake) found the back of the net at 28:39 to bring the score to 3-0 at the half.
Fralick closed out the game eight minutes into the second half off an assist from Emma Fogg (Wellesley, MA/Wellesley). The Newbury defense played well, limiting the Lynx to just five shots after the break. Freshman goalkeeper Tianna Dimaria (Plantsville, CT/Cheshire Academy) registered seven saves for the Nighthawks.
Newbury travels to Becker College on Saturday, October 31st where they will close out the regular season. Game begins at 4:00 PM.
