Nighthawks Soar Over Eagles
The Newbury College women's soccer team edged out the Eagles of Daniel Webster College, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, MA. Freshman Ashleigh Guy (North Smithfield, RI/North Smithfield) was solid in the victory with the game's lone goal.
Making her fourth start in goal, freshman Tianna Dimaria (Plantsville, CT/Chesire Academy) earned her first collegiate career win in the victory. Dimaria kept the Eagles off the board to keep the match scoreless before sophomore Jessica Graus (Rochester, NY/Greece Aradia) found an open Guy at 23:58 for the first and only goal of the game.
Sophomore goalkeeper Amy Waller (Berlin, MA/Tahanot) tallied 10 saves for Daniel Webster in the loss.
With the win, the Nighthawks improve to 3-6-2 overall and 2-3 in the NECC while the Eagles fall to 4-8 and are 2-5 in conference play. Newbury returns to the pitch Thursday October 22nd when they travel to Rivier College. Their next home match is next Saturday October 24th against Bay Path College.
