The 2009 NECC All-Conference Women’s Soccer Team Announced
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - All nine sponsored programs were represented on 2009 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Soccer All-Conference Team, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. In addition to the All-NECC honors, four separate major individual award winners and the team sportsmanship award were also voted upon and selected this week.

Fernandes Carries Hawks into to NECC Semi-Finals
Leicester, Mass- Sophomore Alexandra Fernandes (Tucson, Ariz) scored three goals, as the Becker College defeated Newbury College 4-0 in New England Collegiate Conference women’s soccer action. Newbury goalkeeper Tianna Dimaria (Plantsville, Conn) made eight saves in the loss. The Nighthawks finished the season with an overall record of 4-10-2.

Jordan, Iwahori, and Sehovich to be Honored at Senior Day
Jessica Jordan (Stoneham, MA/Stoneham) of the women's soccer team along with Hayato Iwahori (Tokyo, Japan/Meguro-Gakuin) and Nicholas Sehovich (Pelham, NH/Pelham) of the men's soccer team will be honored for their commitment to their respective progams at senior day festivities this afternoon beginning at 2:50 PM. The ceremony will be followed by a men's soccer game vs. New England Collegiate Conference opponent Becker College at 3:00 PM.

Fralick’s Hat Trick Propels Lynx
The Newbury College women’s soccer team lost to New England Collegiate Conference frontrunner Lesley University 4-0 in a night game played in Cambridge, MA. The Lynx stay undefeated in the NECC with an overall record of 7-0, while the Nighthawks fall to 3-4 in the conference. Freshman goalkeeper Tianna Dimaria (Plantsville, CT/Cheshire Academy) registered seven saves for the Nighthawks.

The Newbury College women’s soccer team defeated the Wildcats of Bay Path College, 4-0, Monday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, MA. Freshman Ashleigh Guy (North Smithfield, RI/North Smithfield) recorded her first collegiate hat trick scoring the Nighthawks final 3 goals.

The Newbury College women’s soccer team edged out the Eagles of Daniel Webster College, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, MA. Freshman Ashleigh Guy (North Smithfield, RI/North Smithfield) was solid in the victory with the game’s lone goal.

Hoxie’s Four Goals Lead Mitchell past Newbury
NEW LONDON, Conn. – Mitchell College sophomore Nikki Hoxie (Winsted, Conn.) scored four goals and added one assist to lead the Mariners to a 6-4 victory over Newbury College on Monday afternoon. Newbury (2-5-2 overall, 1-2-0 NECC) hung in the contest until the very end and got three goals from freshman Ashleigh Guy (N. Smithfield, R.I.) in the defeat.

Butler Kicks Game-Winner to Lift Wildcats in Double-Overtime
BOSTON, Mass. – For the third home game in a row the Wheelock College women’s soccer team was pushed to overtime, and for the second time, the Wildcats pulled out the victory. Sophomore forward Haley Butler (Yarmouthsport, Mass.) booted the game-winner from mid-field on a goal kick 1:28 into the second overtime to give Wheelock its first New England Collegiate Conference win of the season. Nighthawk junior mid-fielder Ashley Greene-Allen (Brockton, Mass.) did her part for Newbury, scoring two goals on the day.

UMASS BOSTON WOMEN’S SOCCER ROUTS NEWBURY, 10-0
BOSTON, MA – Three different players netted a pair of goals for the University of Massachusetts Boston women’s soccer team in a 10-0 victory over visiting Newbury College today at the Clark Athletic Center Field on the campus of UMass Boston. The Beacons extend their school-record unbeaten streak to eight straight matches and improve to 8-2-1 on the season, while the Nighthawks fall to 2-3-2. Newbury freshman goalie Jennifer Anderson (Palmer, MA) made 14 saves for the Nighthawks, who were outshot 39-3 on the afternoon.

Framingham Women’s Soccer Blanks Newbury
Framingham, Mass. — Freshman forward Jillian Waters (Orange, Mass.) scored two goals and freshman midfielder Kim Clooney (Weymouth, Mass.) picked up a goal and two assists as the Framingham State College women’s soccer team defeated Newbury College 9-0 today in non-conference action at Maple Street Field. With the win, the Rams improve to 3-6 on the season, while Newbury falls to 2-2-2 with the loss.

The Newbury College women’s soccer team lost to WPI Saturday afternoon, 5-1. WPI junior Kristen Garza (Kingston, MA) was solid in the Engineers victory scoring two goals while assisting on two others.

The Newbury College women’s soccer team erased a two goal deficit against Regis College as the match ended in a 3-3 stalemate after two overtime periods. Sophomore Jessica Graus (Rochester, NY/Greece Aradia) led the Nighthawks with two of the team’s three goals.

Guy Earns NECC Weekly Honors
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK - Newbury College freshman forward Ashleigh Guy (Northfield, R.I.) led the Nighthawks to a 1-0 week, shutting down Mass. Maritime 2-0 in their season opener. Guy had a foot in both goals scored, recording two assists in her inaugural ninety minutes of collegiate play.

Rivals Gators, Nighthawks battle to 1-1 tie
CHESTNUT HILL, MA – Pine Manor’s Beth Deegan tied the contest at 1-1 with a deep goal in the 23rd minute, and it stayed tied for the remaining 87, as the Gators and Brookline rival Newbury played to a 1-1 tie Wednesday evening in Chestnut Hill. The Nighthawks (1-0-1) controlled much of the early going, peppering Gators goalkeeper Colleen Tencza (South Meriden, CT/Platt) early in the first. The keeper made a lunging save on a Jessica Graus (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) header in the sixth minute.

The Newbury College women’s soccer team defeated visiting MA Maritime Academy in their home opener 2-0 today in Chestnut Hill, MA. The Nighthawks outshot their opponents 31-5, with freshman Ashleigh Guy (North Smithfield, RI/North Smithfield) leading the offense with two assists on the afternoon.
