Shannon Clark joins the women’s basketball coaching staff after his lone season as the head coach of the girl’s varsity program at Somerville High School. The Highlanders qualified for the MIAA state tournament and were awarded two Greater Boston League All-Stars and a Boston Herald All-Scholastic Honoree. Additionally, the team produced its highest scoring output since the 2006 season.
Coach Clark has been an active coach in the New England region for eight years. He specializes in the development of perimeter players, specifically point guards, and is the architect of an innovative offensive system that has established many team and individual records at several schools.
A former Director of the Mass Wildcats Girls Basketball Club, Clark has also had stints as a boys’ high school coach and a women’s college coach. As an assistant under renowned scholastic coach Bill Loughnane at both South Boston High School and Boston College High School, he enjoyed tremendous success. While at BC High, the Eagles posted a 59-10 record in three seasons, culminating in an undefeated season and state title in 2007. As an NCAA Women’s assistant at Simmons College, the Sharks posted two of their best seasons in school history as head coach Tony Price earned 2010 conference Coach of the Year. During that time, the Sharks also set thirteen offensive school records.
Coach Clark also has experience in the NECC. He served as the head coach of Wheelock College for the 2008 season. The Wildcats had one of their most prolific seasons in recent history as they tied the program mark for overall wins and carved their names in the record book en route to fifteen new offensive school records.
