Katherine Greene enters her fourth season as Assistant Athletic Director and head women's basketball coach at Newbury College. She also serves as the Senior Woman Administrator.
In 2009-2010, Greene led the Nighthawks to a 7-9 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) record and second consecutive playoff berth after recruiting a wealth of talent including NECC Rookie of the Year Catherine O'Connell (Quincy, MA).
Greene comes to Newbury from Simmons College where she served as Assistant Women's Basketball Coach for the past two seasons. During her tenure at Simmons, she helped guide the Sharks to two postseason appearances, coaching three All-Conference players and one All New-England player. Greene served as the Assistant Coach at her alma mater, Pine Manor College for the 2005-2006 season, helping guide the Gators back to the postseason.
A native of Barrington, RI, she came to the Boston area to attend Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill where she received a B.A. in Communications in 2003 and was also a standout three-sport athlete in soccer, basketball and softball. A four year starter and two year captain of the soccer team, she also helped guide the Gators basketball team to three straight postseason appearances, and played first base for the softball team that qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history. Greene went on to become the first Gator in school history to earn 12 varsity letters in a career and was given the athletics department's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003.
Sarah Briggs enters her fourth season as an assistant coach at Newbury College. Briggs comes to Newbury with a strong basketball coaching background dating back to 2000 with Hoop Camp in Casco, ME, along with Colby College Basketball Camp in both 2000 and 2001. Briggs also worked for One on One Basketball in Providence, RI as a Coach and After School Program Coordinator from November 2005 to May 2007.
A native of Taunton, MA Briggs
graduated from the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth in 2005
with a Bachelor of Arts in Women's Studies and Sociology. In
2007 she received a Masters in Women in Politics & Public
Policy from the University of Massachusetts - Boston. Prior to that
Briggs was a stand out three sport athlete at Mount. Ida College
playing soccer, basketball and softball in 2000-2001. Briggs
currently resides in Boston and has recently earned a second
Masters in Business Administration from Simmons College. She
also serves as assistant to the Nighthawk women's soccer team.
