Nighthawks Fall Short to AMCATS
PAXTON, Mass. Propelled by Samantha Ashtons (Worcester, Mass.) game high 21 points, the Anna Maria College Womens basketball team defeated the Newbury Nighthawks 60-54 en route to their fourth straight victory in a Division III matchup at the Fuller Activities Center on Thursday evening.

No. 3 Elms College Pulls Away from No. 6 Newbury
No. 3 Elms College used a big run early in the second half to pull away to a 72-42 women's basketball win over No. 6 Newbury College in the first round of the inaugural New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Tournament on Tuesday night at the Maguire Center. Junior forward Rashawna Wynn (Baltimore, MD) finished with 14 points as the only Newbury player to reach double figures.

Nighthawks Fall to Blazers; Backdoor into Playoffs
The Newbury College Womens Basketball team lost their final home contest of the 2008-2009 season to visiting Elms College by a score of 66-49 today in Brookline, MA. Despite the loss, the Nighthawks are headed to the first-ever NECC playoff tournament where they hope to make a run for the title.

The Newbury College Nighthawks dropped an NECC conference game to the Eagles of Daniel Webster College 33-53 tonight in Brookline, MA. Leading the way for the Eagles was Nicole Conley (Hinesburg, VT/Rice) with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists.

Nighthawks Hold Off Wildcats Attack
The Newbury College Womens Basketball team kept their playoff hopes alive and well, as they defeated Wheelock College 64 -57 today in Brookline, MA. Rashawna Wynn (Baltimore, MD/Southwestern) paved the way for the Nighthawks as she scored a game high 21 points and ripped down a game high 13 rebounds in the victory; Wynn was the only player to finish with a double-double while also adding four steals and two assists.

Newbury Keeps Playoff Hopes Alive
The Newbury College Womens Basketball team may just be turning their season around. Defeating Southern Vermont College this afternoon by a score of 82-63, they proved that persistence truly can pay off and that the possibility of a play-off run is still within their grasp.

Rams Overpower Nighthawks
The Suffolk University Rams won their 10th game against the Newbury College Nighthawks Monday night, 89-45. In the win, five Rams reached double figures and were led by junior Laura Thompson (Kennebunk, ME/Kennebunk) who was one rebound shy of a double-double to along with her 17 points.

Mariners Defeat Nighthawks in NECC Match-up
Newbury College dropped an NECC conference match-up against Mitchell College today in Brookline, MA, 43-91. The Mariners Allison Peck (Colchester, CT / Bacon Academy) led the way as she connected on six three-pointers and finished with a game-high 22 points.

Hawks Soar Over Nighthawks
The Newbury College Nighthawks dropped an NECC conference game to the Hawks of Becker College tonight 57-87 in Brookline, MA. The Hawks took just a 2 point lead into the half, but would come out firing on all cylinders in the 2nd half to break the game wide open.

Nighthawks Defeat Wildcats
The 2009 Nighthawk Womens Basketball team found a rung of opportunity, breaking into the win column by defeating the visiting Wildcats of Bay Path College tonight by a score of 59-38. Leading the way for Newbury were freshmen Jessica Graus (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) and Kendra Bannister (Stafford, VA/Brook Point) who both recorded double-doubles.

While still looking for their first win, the Nighthawks made noteworthy progress boasting 54 rebounds, 31 defensive and commanding performances by Katelyn Mark (Quincy, MA/North Quincy) and Kendra Bannister (Stafford, VA/Brook Point).

All ten members of the Lesley University Womens Basketball team scored in their 63-37 victory over Newbury College tonight in Brookline, MA. The game marked the Nighthawks first conference match-up since becoming a member of the New England Collegiate Conference and left them still looking for their first win.

Turnovers Prove Fatal for Nighthawks
The Newbury College Nighthawks dropped a tough game to the Gators of Pine Manor College tonight in Brookline, MA. Leading by a score of 28-25 at the half due predominantly to outstanding rebounding and a 71.4% three-point field goal percentage - Newbury let the momentum slip as they committed 14 turnovers in the second half allowing Pine Manor to come away with the 62-53 victory.

Nighthawks Drop Home Opener to Amcats
The Newbury College Women's Basketball team dropped their home opener tonight to the Anna Maria Amcats, losing by a score of 76-50. Turnovers proved fatal for the Nighthawks as the committed 35 on the game - 22 in the first half alone leading to 24 Amcat points off turnovers.

Newbury College Women's Basketball Looking to Soar in NECC
Under the direction of head coach Katie Greene, in her second season, the Nighthawk Women's Basketball team looks to lead the way in its inaugural year as a member of the New England Collegiate Conference.
