Roach Fans Nine In Comeback Over Hawks
The Newbury College softball team completed a halted game against New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponent Becker College, Tuesday afternoon, with a 7-5 victory. Junior right-hander Rebecca Roach (Charlton, Mass.) earned her eighth win of the season and improves to 6-5 against NECC foes after allowing just four earned runs in seven innings while striking out nine Hawks.

Haney, Nighthawks Sweep Mountaineers
The Newbury College softball team extended their win-streak to four games, sweeping Southern Vermont College, 9-1 and 8-6 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action, Sunday afternoon. Sophomore shortstop Katie Haney (Winchendon, Mass.) went three-for-eight with a double and two RBIs while scoring four runs from the top of the Nighthawk order.

Nighthawks Drop Twin-Bill to Blazers
The Newbury College softball team dropped two games to Elms College, 8-1 and 8-0, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action, Wednesday afternoon. But despite the loss junior Rebecca Roach was nearly perfect from the middle of the Nighthawk line-up going four-for-five on the afternoon.

Nighthawks Drop Doubleheader to Pride
The Regis College Softball team defeated Newbury College twice this afternoon, by scores of 6-4, 15-2 today in Weston, MA. Freshman shortstop Samantha Bliss (Framingham, MA/Framingham) led the way for the Pride with an impressive stat line of 4 hits, 5 runs batted in, 3 steals and 4 runs scored in the double header.

Nighthawks Rally Falls Just Short
The Becker College Softball team edged out Newbury College by a score of 4-3 today in Chestnut Hill, MA , while the second game of the double header was called in the first inning due to rain. Freshman, Megan Cordon (Dover, N.H./Dover) led the way for the Hawks hitting 2 for 3 at the plate while striking out seven on the mound to earn the victory.

Roach's Monster Day at the Plate Comes up Short
The Lesley University softball team defeated the Nighthawks of Newbury College 8-5, 15-0 in a double header this afternoon in Waltham, MA. The Lynx were led both offensively and defensively by sophomore Jennifer Dorval (Franklin, NH/Franklin) as she went 5 for 8 from the plate with three runs batted in and on the pitching mound, shut out the Nighthawks with eight strikeouts while only giving up two hits in game two.

For the second time this season, first year shortstop Anjelina Mayjoffo (Antioch, Calif.) earned New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Rookie of the Week honors after helping the Nighthawks to a 2-1 week including a sweep conference foe Bay Path College, Sunday afternoon.

Roach, Flamenco Power Nighthawks to Sweep of Wildcats
The Newbury College softball team opened New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action sweeping Sunday afternoon’s double-header against Bay Path College, 10-3 and 3-2. Junior right-hander Rebecca Roach (Charlton, Mass.) continued her dominance against the Wildcats, nearly registering a four-to-one strike-out-to-walk ratio as she tossed her eighth and ninth complete games of the season.

Late Inning Rally Falls Short
A late one-out rally was not enough for the Newbury College softball team as they fell to non-conference Rivier College, 7-3, Wednesday evening. Senior first baseman Teressa Farioli (East Longmeadow, Mass.) broke up a string of nine batters retired by Raider starter Hillary Tarr (North Easton, Mass.) with a single down the left field line to spark a three-run seventh for the Nighthawks.

Nighthawks Drop Twin-Bill to Pilgrims
The Newbury College softball drop late Sunday afternoon double-header to non-conference New England College, 16-1 and 10-0. New Engand College junior Gabrielle Timms, who got the nod in game two, held the Nighthawks hitless through five innings while striking out 11 and walking just one. First year Julia Flamenco was two-for-three with a double and an RBI in the first game.

Nighthawks Continue to Improve on Softball Diamond
With a bunch of viable options at each position, the Newbury College softball team is fundamentally sound, defensively, up the middle as they return from Spring Break in Fort Myers, Fla. In addition to providing the Nighthawks with a solid lead-off hitter with a .367 on-base percentage, first year Anjelina Mayjoffo (Antioch, Calif.) has also been nearly flawless with the glove at shortstop.

Nighthawks Make Great Strides on Diamond
Although their record may not show it, the Newbury College softball team has made great strides on the diamond under the warm Florida sun. The Nighthawks have improved leaps and bounds in every aspect of the game, hitting, fielding and pitching, it will not be long before they get that elusive first victory.

Softball Tabbed Fifth in Pre-Season Poll
Looking to build off a 9-7 conference record last year, the Newbury College softball team was selected to finish fifth in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Pre-Season Poll. In a vote by the 10 conference head coaches, the Nighthawks garnered 54 votes – three points behind Becker College, who they upset in the NECC quarterfinals in 2011.

Robie, Rios Receive National Honors
Two members of the Newbury College softball team were honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as All-America Scholar Athletes this fall. Sophomore Joanna Robie and Samantha Rios were two of over 4,000 student-athletes to receive the honor.
