Nine Student-Athletes Earn Winter/Spring Academic All-Conference
A total of nine Newbury College winter and spring student-athletes were named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference, announced by Commissioner Del Malloy on Tuesday. To be eligible for the NECC Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00 and must be sophomore or higher in class standings.

It's How You Finish
The 2011 Newbury College softball team peaked at the right time, rattling off seven straight victories at the end of the regular season to earn the fifth seed in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Tournament with a 9-7 conference record. Under first year Head Coach Brook Capello, their end of the season run was the second longest winning streak of the 2010-2011 academic year behind men’s volleyball’s two eight game streaks.

Five Nighthawks Garner All-Conference Accolades
The Newbury College softball team peaked at the right time, winning their last seven regular season games to qualify for the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) post-season tournament and were rewarded for their hard-work. Newbury tied with Elms College for the second most players being named to the All-Conference team with five, including a first team recipient for the second consecutive season.

Nighthawks Drop First Semifinals Contest to Lynx
The Newbury College softball team fell to the number one seed Lesley University, 8-0, in the first game of New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) semifinals Friday morning at UMass-Boston’s Clark Athletics Center Field. Starter Rebecca Roach recovered from a rocky first inning and kept the Lynx off the scoreboard for the next four innings.

Roach Propels Nighthawks to First Semifinal Appearance
Sophomore starter Rebecca Roach propelled the Newbury College softball team into the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) semifinals. The Charlton, Mass. native tossed a complete game allowing just one unearned run on two while fanning nine Hawks and helped her own cause at the dish going two-for-four.

Late Season Run Earns Nighthawks Fifth Seed
The Newbury College softball teams enters the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship Tournament as the fifth seed with a 9-7 conference record. The Nighthawks are currently riding a seven game winning streak as they will face #4 Becker College tomorrow, Tuesday May 3rd, in Leicester, Mass. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

Robie Helps Nighthawks Over .500 in NECC Action
The bats were out in full force Saturday afternoon for the Newbury College softball team taking two from Southern Vermont College, 10-1 and 13-4. Game two starter Joanna Robie (Andover, Mass./Andover) went six-for-eight with seven RBIs and helped her own cause with a three-run homerun in the top of the seventh.

Nighthawks Win Fourth Straight
The Newbury College softball team picked up their third and fourth wins in a row this afternoon, defeating Wheelock College 4-3, 10-1, in Chestnut Hill, MA. Jessy Touron (Brockton, MA) led the way for the Nighthawks, as she went 4-6 on the day with 4 runs batted in, while teammate Rebecca Roach (Charlton, MA) picked up 15 strikeouts and became the all time leader for strikeouts in a season at Newbury.

Nashua – The Daniel Webster softball team dropped both ends of a NECC doubleheader Thursday, as Newbury College posted a 10-9 victory in a rain-delayed opener and picked up an 11-4 win in the nightcap of a five-inning game shortened due to darkness.

The Newbury College softball team dropped two to Becker College, Friday afternoon, 8-0 and 8-5. Sophomore starter Rebecca Roach (Charlton, Mass./Shepherd Hill Regional) tossed a complete game in game two of the twin billing, striking out 11 Hawks in the process.

Lynx Power Past Nighthawks
The Newbury College softball team dropped two to reigning New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) champion Lesley University. Lynx shortstop Sarah Apgar (Andover, N.J./Lenape Valley) capped off a four-for-six afternoon with 10 RBIs launching two grand slam homeruns in the top of the second inning of game two as Lesley batted around three times en route to the 19-1 victory.

Starter Rebecca Roach (Charlton, Mass./Shepherd Hill Regional) registered 11 strikeouts while classmate right fielder Sarah Thornton (Clifton Springs, N.Y./Midlakes) was a perfect four-for-four on the afternoon with three runs scored as the Newbury College softball team earned a split against Mitchell College.

The Newbury College softball team fell to non-conference opponent Maine Maritime, 0-11, 0-7, in a double header this afternoon in Weston, MA. First baseman Sabrina Keach (Chesterville, ME) led the way for the Mainers as she went 4 of 5 on the day with a homerun.

Ross Blasts First Career Homerun in Loss to Pride
The Newbury College softball team fell to non-conference Regis College, 12-8, in seven innings Friday afternoon. Third baseman Ariel Ross (Gales Ferry, Conn.) capped off a seven run fifth inning launching the first homerun of the spring – from either baseball or softball – to plate three runs to cut the Pride lead to one, at the time.

Nighthawks Softball Opens 2011 in Florida
The Newbury College softball team returns from their Spring Break trip in Fort Myers, Fla. where they participated in the Gene Cusic Classic. The Nighthawks faced a plethora of top tier opponents including Ohio Wesleyan, who finished the last two seasons with 24 victories. Despite a 0-8 record, Newbury received top performances from their freshmen and returning veterans that look to make for a promising 2011 season.
