Nighthawk Softball Wraps for Breast Cancer

The Newbury College softball program participated in a holiday gift wrapping event to benefit the Massachusetts Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation at the South Shore Plaza (Braintree, MA) on Friday, December 11, 2009.  While an annual event for the Foundation, it marked the first year of participation for the Nighthawks and raised over $200 in the fight against breast cancer.

The Komen Massachusetts Affiliate works to reduce breast cancer throughout the state by funding education, screening and treatment programs, with an emphasis on the medically undeserved.  Without a cure, 1 in 8 women in the US will continue to be diagnosed with breast cancer bringing the total to an estimated five million over the next 25 years.
