Thomas, Morgan Named to All-Conference Team
Two Newbury runners were honored by the New England Colllegiate Conference (NECC) at the NECC Championship hosted by Mitchell College on Saturday October 30th in New London, Conn. Freshman John Morgan (Cumberland, R.I.) and sophomore Solange Thomas (Webster, Mass.) were named to their respective All-Conference teams after the race.
Morgan was the first Newbury runner to cross the finish line with a time of 29:39, earning All-NECC first team honors and helping the Nighthawks to the 2010 NECC Sportsmanship Award. The Rhode Island native finished two minutes behind the medalist, Lesley freshman Kyle Casiglio (Shelton, Conn.), who won Runner and Rookie of the Year crossing with a time of 27:00.
Thomas earned All-Conference second team honors finishing in the top 10 of the women's championship. She placed 10th of 50 runners with a time of 22:31, two minutes of the medalist, Lesley sophomore Noa Kupfer (Woodbridge, Conn.), who won with a time of 20:19.
