For the second straight year seniors Patrick Curry (Hampstead, N.H.) and Jessica Graus (Rochester, N.Y.) highlighted the 2011-12 Newbury College Athletic Banquet receiving Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2011-12 academic year.

Whelan Named Head Volleyball Coach
Director of Athletics Jessica Gould announces the hiring of Clint Whelan as Head Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Coach, Wednesday afternoon. Whelan brings a wealth of experience in the sport of volleyball to Newbury after previously serving an Assistant Women’s Volleyball Coach at Division II Adelphi University in his home state of New York.

Nighthawks Fall to Gulls, 3-0
The Newbury College men’s volleyball team fell to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) leaders, Endicott College, 3-0, on Senior Night, Thursday evening. Before the game, the Nighthawks honored their three seniors Chris Chin (Brockton, Mass.), Danny Kim (Plainview, N.Y.) and Benjamin Weiner (Barrington, R.I.) for their dedication to the men’s volleyball program.

Nighthawks Soar Over Pride, 3-0
The Newbury College men’s volleyball team completed the season sweep of Regis College, 3-0, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) volleyball action, Tuesday night. Senior outside hitter Danny Kim (Plainview, N.Y.) was nearly perfect from the floor registering a match-high eight kills on nine attempts for an .889 attack percentage.

Blazers Complete Season Sweep over Nighthawks
The Elms College men’s volleyball team swept Newbury College, 3-0 (25-19, 26-22, 25-15), Sunday afternoon in Brookline, MA. Bryson Rainey (Brookline, MA/Brookline) led the way for the Blazers with a match high 10 kills, while teammate Carlos DeLeon (Carolina, PR/Colegio Bautista de Carolina) was solid in the sweep with nine kills, ten digs and two serving aces.

Eagles Defeat Nighthawks for the First Time in Program History
The Daniel Webster College men’s volleyball team swept Newbury College, 3-0 (25-21, 26-24, 25-11), Saturday afternoon in Brookline, MA. The victory was a program first for the Eagles as Newbury lead the all time series 7-0 up until today. Daniel Webster’s Joe Walz (E. Longmeadow, MA/E. Longmeadow) paved the way for the Eagles with 11 kills, while teammate Kyle Clement (Weymouth, MA/ Catholic Memorial) dished out a team high 17 assists.

McKey, Braden Lead Nighthawks to Victory over Pride
The Newbury College men’s volleyball extended their win streak to two games with a 3-0 sweep of Regis College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action, Saturday afternoon. Junior middle blocker Jarryl McKey (Brooklyn, N.Y.) paved the way to the victory, registering an impressive .636 attack percentage with eight kills on 11 attempts with just one error while sophomore setter Cody Braden (Fair Grove, Mo.) registered a double-double with 15 assists and 11 digs.

The Newbury College men’s volleyball team swept Lesley University, 3-0 (25-12, 25-9, 25-14), Monday evening in Brookline, MA. Senior outside hitter Chris Chin (Brockton, MA/Brockton) paved the way to victory for the Nighthawks registering a game-high 10 kills.

Nighthawks Drop Two to Engineers, Saints
The Newbury College men’s volleyball team dropped two tough non-conference matches to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 3-1, and Emmanuel College, 3-0, Saturday afternoon. Senior opposite hitter registered a team-high 16 kills on the afternoon while sophomore middle blocker Justin Franks followed up with 11 for a .261 attack percentage.

Nighthawks Offense Too Much For Lions
The Newbury College men’s volleyball team held of non-conference Emerson College, 3-1, Thursday evening with set scores of 16-25, 25-19, 25-22 and 25-21. Senior outside hitter Danny Kim (Plainview, N.Y.) lit up the Lions setting a single-match high registering 26 kills en route to the victory.

The Newbury College men’s volleyball team dropped Saturday afternoon’s tri-match falling to non-conference Wentworth Institute of Technology, 3-2, in the first match and New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) foe Southern Vermont College, 3-1, in the final match of the day. Senior outside hitter Danny Kim (Plainview, N.Y.) registered 26 kills with three total blocks on the afternoon.

Men's Volleyball Tabbed Fifth in Pre-Season Poll
The Newbury College men’s volleyball team will be out to defend their title in 2012. Winners of the last two New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championships, the Nighthawks look to surprise the rest of the conference after being selected to finish fifth in the NECC Coaches Pre-season Poll, announced Tuesday morning.
