Talamantes Earns NECVA Recognition
Senior setter Matt Talamantes (Los Angeles, Calif.) was named Northeast Collegiate Volleyball Association(NECVA)-New England Player of the Week for week eight. He helped the Nighthawks to a 4-0 week against NECVA New England opponents, Wentworth Institute of Technology, Elms College, Lesley University and Southern Vermont College.
Against Lesley on March 19th, Talamantes registered his 5,000th career assists in the first match of Saturday afternoon’s tri-match. He is Newbury’s all-time leader in set assists, currently sitting at 5,049 in his four year career.
In Newbury’s perfect 4-0 week, he tallied 26 kills with a .455 hitting percentage as well as registered 19 digs and nine total blocks (two solo and seven assisted) and 128 assists.
The Nighthawks return to action tonight when they face Emmanuel College in Boston, Mass. at 7:00pm.
