Nighthawks Down Eagles
Nashua – Rookie Joe Walz (East Longmeadow, Mass.) notched
a match high 11 kills but Newbury College hit .312 as a team on the
way to a 3-0 sweep of host Daniel Webster in a NECVA New England
Divisional and New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men’s
volleyball matchup Wednesday night at the Mario Vagge
Gymnasium.
Danny Kim (Plainview, N.Y.), Max Daley (Cranston, R.I.), and Dan
Davison (Howell, N.J.) paced the Nighthawks (16-9, 8-2 NECVA, 5-0
NECC), who posted set scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-18 and
completed a two-day home and home sweep of the Eagles (6-9, 6-6
NECVA, 4-3 NECC).
Ian Catenzaro (Londonderry, N.H.) added six kills and seven digs
for Daniel Webster while Kyle Clement (Weymouth, Mass.) handed off
21 assists.
Matt Talamantes (Los Angeles, Cal.) dished out 33 assists, adding
five kills for the Nighthawks, while Michael Biuso (S. Setaucket,
N.Y.) registered a match-high 10 digs.
The Eagles return to action on Friday night hosting Elms College in
another NECVA/NECC matchup beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Newbury hosts Regis Thursday night in a NECVA/NECC matchup
beginning at 7:00 p.m.
