Curry, Graus Highlight the 2011 Athletic Banquet
In front of a packed house of nearly 250 people including over 130 athletes, their families, faculty and staff junior Patrick Curry (Hampstead, NH) and fellow junior Jessica Graus (Rochester, NY) earned the 2011 Male and Female Scholar-Athlete Award, respectively, at the 2010-2011 Athletic Banquet.

Nine Student-Athletes Earn Winter/Spring Academic All-Conference
A total of nine Newbury College winter and spring student-athletes were named New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference, announced by Commissioner Del Malloy on Tuesday. To be eligible for the NECC Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00 and must be sophomore or higher in class standings.

Nighthawks Capture ECAC DIII North Men’s Volleyball title
Beverly, Mass. – Playing as the #2 seed in the ECAC Division III North Men’s Volleyball Tournament, the Newbury College Nighthawks defeated host institution and #1 seed Endicott College 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-20-25-23) to win their third ECAC Tournament championship in the past five years. Junior outside hitter Danny Kim (Plainview, N.Y.) earn the Most Outstanding Player award after posting a match-high 19 kills and a .412 hit percentage

Newbury Selected as #2 Seed in ECAC Division III North Tournament
The Newbury College men’s volleyball team returns to the volleyball court this weekend as the Nighthawks were selected as the second seed in the 2011 ECAC Division III North Men’s Volleyball Championship. The tournament is a four-team field hosted by Endicott College in Beverly, Mass on Saturday April 9th.

Daley, Biuso, Talamantes Garner NECVA Accolades
Senior middle blocker Max Daley (Cranston, R.I.) headlined the three members of the men’s volleyball team after being named to the 2011 NECVA All-Conference Second Team and first-team All-New England Division selection. Classmates senior setter Matt Talamantes (Los Angeles, Calif.) and senior libero Michael Biuso (South Setauket, N.Y.) earned second team All-New England Division honors.

The Newbury College men’s volleyball team nearly upset #14 Emmanuel College, Tuesday evening. Saints outside hitter Curtis Abram (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) paved the way to victory with a match-high 37 kills.

Nighthawks Win Second Straight NECC Title
The Newbury College men’s volleyball team defeated Elms College, 3-1 today in Brookline, MA, to win their second straight New England Collegiate Conference Championship title. The Nighthawks were paced by tournament Most Valuable Player Matt Talamantes (Los Angeles, CA) who finished the match with 9 kills, 7 digs and a game high 45 assists.

Newbury, Elms Advance to Title Game
The Newbury College men’s volleyball team and the Blazers of Elms College advanced to the New England Collegiate Conference Championship Game by both sweeping their opponents 3-0 tonight in Brookline, MA. The title game, which will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2:00pm will be a rematch of the 2009 Championship in which the Blazers defeated Newbury 3-1.

Senior setter Matt Talamantes (Los Angeles, Calif.) was named Northeast Collegiate Volleyball Association(NECVA)-New England Player of the Week for week eight. In addition to helping the Nighthawks to a perfect week he reached a career milestone, notching his 5,000th set assists.

The Newbury College men’s volleyball team fell to visiting Endicott College, 3-1, Tuesday evening in a battle for the #2 spot in NECVA New England. The Gulls defeated the Nighthawks with a well balanced offensive attack led by outside hitter Zeke Kubish (Bethlehem, NY/Bethlehem) who finished with a team high 14 kills.

Newbury College has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to capture the 2011 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men's volleyball title, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy.Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the NECC's head men’s volleyball coaches. Five of the nine NECC members sponsor men’s volleyball.
