Thomas & Amylon Collect NECC Weekly Honors

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL 

PLAYER OF THE WEEK —Newbury College senior outside hitter Mark Thomas (Wilbraham, Mass.) put up big numbers to help the Nighthawks clinch the #1 seed and host the upcoming NECC championships with a perfect 8-0 conference record. The Nighthawks went 3-0 on the week sweeping Elms, Wentworth and Southern Vermont. Thomas had 34 kills, 14 digs and seven blocks for his two matches played. He tallied a .593 attack percentage. For the six sets, Thomas managed 5.6 kills per set, 2.3 digs per set and 1.16 blocks per set.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK —Fellow Nighthawk, Newbury College freshman defensive specialist Alex Amylon (Scituate, R.I.) patrolled the court grabbing 22 digs averaging 2.4 digs per set. The Nighthawks went 3-0 on the week sweeping Elms, Wentworth and Southern Vermont. He also averaged 0.8 assists per set, 0.5 service aces per set, while hitting .200 for the Nighthawks.
