Blazers Overpower Nighthawks
The Nighthawk Men's Volleyball team dropped their 4th straight match to visiting Elms College tonight in Brookline, MA by a score of 3-1. The victory marked the Blazers' first-ever win against the Nighthawks in 15 all-time meetings dating back to 2003.
Elms was led by the solid play of sophomore outside hitter Alberto Bravo (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico/Colegio Carmen Sol) who recorded a match-high 25 kills on the night. Teammate Ivan Andujar (Carolina, Puerto Rico/Colegio Bautista de Carolina) dished out a team-high 42 assists in addition to two service aces en route to the Blazers' seventh victory in their last ten matches.
Newbury received a substantial effort from junior Joshua Aberly (Palatine, IL/Palatine) who finished the match with 13 kills and 20 digs; but his actions would not be enough as the Nighthawks were only able to pull away with a victory in set four.
NECC opponent, Daniel Webster College comes to town on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 for a match at 7:00 PM. Newbury looks to turn their streak around and will also play host to the drawing for the winners of the 2nd Annual Nighthawk Raffle.
