Newbury Men’s Tennis Celebrates Senior Day

The Newbury College men’s tennis team fell to Lesley University, 7-2, Saturday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, MA. Despite the loss, the Nighthawks honored three seniors on their final home match of their careers, Mike Foley (Oxford, ME), Ryan Sevieri (Canton, MA) and Nick Sehovich (Pelham, NH) were honored before the match by teammates, family and friends.

Lesley was led by Junior Christian Domingo (Los Angeles, CA) who helped the Lynx to their sixth victory of the season winning his singles match in three sets (6-2, 5-7, 7-5). Domingo also recorded a victory in his doubles match with teammate Nick Mattox (Pasadena, MD) 8-3 over Benjamin Weiner (Barrington, RI) and Foley for the Nighthawks.

Also guiding Lesley to victory was Sophomore David Newton (Hamden, CT) who defeated Sehovich 6-1, 6-1 in the number one singles spot, while also helping to win his number one doubles match 9-7.

The loss drops the Nighthawks to 0-11 on the season and 0-6 in the conference while the Lesley improved to 6-2, 5-2 in the NECC. Newbury returns to the courts Monday April 26^th when they host Becker College at 3:30 PM, for a make-up match.
