Nighthawks Soar Past Wildcats

The Newbury College men's tennis team defeated the Wildcats of Wheelock College today in Chestnut Hill, MA by a score of 7-2.   The Nighthawks picked up their second win of the season, improving their record to 2-11 overall, 2-6 NECC.    

The Nighthawks took control of the match early as they swept all three doubles matches and then proceed to win 4 out of 6 singles matches. Newbury received two wins a piece this afternoon from Matt O'Donnell (Vernon, CT/Rockville), Ben Weiner (Barrington, RI/Barrington), Matt Talamantes (Sylmar, CA/ Viewpoint) and Matt Tise (Hanover, MA/BC High), who all dominated both their singles and doubles matches.  Talamantes was impressive once again as he recorded his fifth straight singles win and his second straight doubles win of the season.  While teammate O'Donnell picked up his third conference singles win and Weiner picked up his second. 

Newbury will be in action again this weekend as the Nighthawks will host the NECC Championship tournament at Pine Manor College on both Saturday and Sunday.
