O’Donnell and Sehovich Receive Honorable Mention
Two members of the Newbury College men’s tennis team received Honorable Mention in its’ inaugural year as a member of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC). Junior Nicholas Sehovich (Pelham, NH) and freshman Matthew O’Donnell (Vernon, CT) led the Nighthawks to sweep conference-foe Wheelock College and come away with a 4th place finish on the year.

Mariners Cruise in NECC Individual Championship
The Mitchell College Mariners continued their successful 2009 campaign today at the inaugural New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Men’s Tennis Championship. Team members claimed victories in six of the nine total flights played on the day, two of three in doubles action and four of six in singles play.

NECC Men's Tennis Individual Championships Postponed Due to Inclement Weather
The 2009 NECC Men's Individual Tennis Tournament has been postponed until tomorrow due to inclement weather. The semifinals will begin tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. prior to the final matches. The tournament is hotsted by Newbury College with all matches played at Pine Manor College. Due to time restraints all the semi-final matches will be played as an eight game pro-set with a 12 point tie breaker. The doubles finals will follow the same rule. The singles finals will remain the same following ITA rules as long as time allows.

Nighthawks Soar Past Wildcats
The Newbury College men’s tennis team defeated the Wildcats of Wheelock College today in Chestnut Hill, MA by a score of 7-2. The Nighthawks picked up their second win of the season, improving their record to 2-11 overall, 2-6 NECC. The Nighthawks took control of the match early as they swept all three doubles matches and then proceed to win 4 out of 6 singles matches. Newbury received two wins a piece this afternoon from Matt O’Donnell (Vernon, CT/Rockville), Ben Weiner (Barrington, RI/Barrington), Matt Talamantes (Sylmar, CA/ Viewpoint) and Matt Tise (Hanover, MA/BC High), who all dominated both their singles and doubles matches.

Anna Maria Pushes Past Newbury
The Newbury College men’s tennis team lost to Anna Maria College 5-4 Saturday afternoon. Joshua Proulx (Southbridge, MA/Southbridge) and Jesus Torres (Southbridge, MA/Southbridge) led the Amcats to their third victory of the season with a 9-7 win in the third doubles match after the two teams tied 3-3 in singles. Nighthawk freshman Benjamin Weiner (Barrington, RI/Barrington) won 11 straight games to shut down Proulx 2-0 in singles. After taking Proulx to 12 games in the first set, Weiner smoked him in the second set 6-1.

Lesley victorious over Newbury, 8-1
The Lesley University men’s tennis team continued their success in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) by beating Newbury College 8-1. The Lynx improved to 5-3 (4-1 NECC) while Newbury College dropped to 1-9 (1-5 NECC). Newbury scored their lone point in the #6 singles match as Matt Talamantes (Sylmar, Calif.) defeated Reeves in three sets 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Mitchell Men's Tennis Remains Undefeated
The Mitchell College men’s tennis team remains undefeated, improving their record to 6-0, (4-0 NECC), over host Newbury College in Chestnut Hill this afternoon by the score of 9-0. The Mariners took control early, sweeping the Nighthawks in doubles play, and continuted to control the tempo in singles play. The young Newbury team has received consistent fine play out of freshman Matthew O’Donnell (Vernon, CT/Rockville) and has a nucleus of solid players to build a program around.

Men’s Tennis Breaks into Win Column
The Newbury College men’s tennis team dominated the visiting Wildcats of Wheelock College, sweeping singles action and splitting doubles play in a match played at Pine Manor College this afternoon. The win marks the first for the Nighthawks this season and brings them to a 1-3 record in the NECC with 4 conference matches remaining.

The Newbury College men’s tennis team lost a well fought match to improved Lesley University today by the score of 8-1 in Cambridge, MA. This was the first men’s tennis match between the two programs in this the charter year of the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC).

The Mitchell College men's tennis team dominated Newbury College, 9-0, this afternoon in a home conference match. Mitchell won all six singles matches and all three doubles slots to earn all nine points.

Lions Sweep Nighthawks, 9-0
The Newbury College men’s tennis team lost a tough non-conference game to a strong Emerson College team, 9-0, Thursday afternoon. The Lions were led by senior Brant Buckley (Chester Springs, PA/Owen J. Roberts), with a sweep over Nighthawks junior Nick Sehovich (Pelham, NH/Pelham) in singles, which Emerson took 6-0.

Nighthawks Drop Tough Decision to Becker
The Newbury College Nighthawks dropped their home and NECC season opener to visting Becker College today by a score of 4-5. Newbury did not go down without a fight, however, as they received solid victories in both singles and doubles action. Freshmen Matthew O’Donnell (Vernon, CT/Rockville) and John DiNuzzo (New City, NY/Ramapo) won both their singles and doubles matches but it still wasn’t enough as Becker defeated Newbury for their first conference win of the season.

UMASS Dartmouth Men's Tennis Downs Newbury, 8-1
The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth’s men’s tennis team lost only two sets Wednesday afternoon in their 2009 home opener against visiting Newbury at the UMass Dartmouth Athletic Complex Wednesday afternoon. Junior, Ryan Sevieri (Canton, MA/Canton) provided the sole Nighthawk victory by defeating Ben Brown in third singles competition.
